security update for Visual C++ 2008 Service pack redistributable will not install

Every time I run Windows (11) update, update tries to install this and fails. I uninstalled the Visual C++ 2008 redistributable, and the update still tries to install and fails. How do I either install this successfully, or get Windows Update to stop trying to install it??
