Does that mean you tried the suggestion or ignored it?
As long as you leave the the Windows firewall active and only visit
the Microsoft sites you should be well protected.
In any case, in order to do the install phase of an update you don't even
need to be connected to the network. So if you're really paranoid disable
your network connection before disabling your security apps too.
BTW some security apps are known not to disable as well as they should
so you might also have to uninstall those to achieve the same effect...
The point is that installing an update may appear to some overzealous
security app exactly the same thing as installing a Trojan, so they could be
blocking the final phase of the update (during the reboot). So far nobody
has bothered telling us if these apps log any of their blocking activities,
so the proof of this is strictly hypothetical. But if you disable your security apps
during the install phase and the updates stop being offered, it's probably
not just a coincidence. ; )

Which were? Don't confuse requests for diagnostics for "suggestions"
especially for suggestions which you expect to "work". Diagnostics don't
"work". They are intended strictly to help refine your symptom description
so a more precise possible resolution can be devised and then tried.
Good luck
