Screen dims or brightens depending on how white or black the screen is

I've tried multiple times to find a solution for this of which they all mention laptops, whereas I'm on desktop and don't have those options.I have a black background and typically use dark mode and night light where I can due to a light sensitivity. However, when minimizing bright windows there's a dimmer that activates. In games this also depends on how dark the general backing is which effects the quality and sometimes makes games unplayable. Thought it was a previous monitor but just got a new one and it still does it. Both are Dell monitors but I can't find any adaptive brightness on them
