Scam Microsoft caller

Just received a scam call on my land line from 01382223753. Asian man claiming that he was from Microsoft.. Told me I had an issue with the security on my PC. Told me he had the serial number of the PC I was currently using ( don't have a PC). I wanted to warn people about this telephone number. I know Microsoft do not make such calls and a similar caller scammed money from my 84 yea old Father in law so when I told the gentleman that what he was doing was immoral and illegal he hung up.


I have seen similar discussions around this, including this particular telephone number. Isn't this illegal, how do we stop these calls?
