I just installed Vista Home Premium and every time I turn on my pc, an icon
is placed on the taskbar telling me to safely remove hardware. The first
round of messages pertained to my card reader slots (which I use) and now
it's telling me to safely remove my USB mass storage device. How do I get
rid of these taskbar messages on every bootup?
Thanks for any suggestions.

That Icon is there so you can safely remove any 3rd party appropriate
hardware - not that you have to at any certain time. You can Right
Click Taskbar - Properties - Notification Area - Customize -
and Hide the Icon.
