I was working on an associate's laptop yesterday, that after some system update(s) was unable to find its own built-in webcam. I went round and round with the suggestions and did finally solve it after over an hour on a support chat with the vendor's tech support team. In the process of things I tried, however, one was a troubleshooter step, I think it was pertaining to drivers for the device, and one of the steps of this opened a login window to connect to my Microsoft account.
