Right click on bottom left windows icon isn't working.

After the last update, at some point I tried to right click the bottom left windows icon to pull up the old style computer list, and the only thing that happened is a tiny box appears that if clicked on does nothing. The only way to get rid of that little box is to click on the desktop.When I left click I get the new style of icons and choices. So now I don't have the ability to shut down or restart my computer using that Icon.I've tried restarting, I've tried going into task manager and restarting windows explorer, neither works. Looking forward to you guys helping me resolve this issue.Thank
