Restoring Win10 with an Image file from a backup

I have an old Dell pc with Windows 10(including updates) installed on it. I'm using the pc only to educate myself on different admin type processes like restoring, repairing, etc. I want to restore a Windows 10 from an Image File, among other processes, because I want to know how to do it and what to expect if I ever had to do it for real. I have the backup (used Window 7 old back process) and the image file on an external drive. I booted from a repair disk or recovery drive, not sure which or the difference (I know when I created it, it asked if I wanted to include system files I think.
