Restore notes from a cancelled meeting

I was the recipient of a meeting request. I accepted the meeting. I opened the meeting from my calendar and typed some notes that I wished to discuss during the meeting. Later, the meeting was canceled by the organizer and I seem to have lost all my notes now. I can find the deleted meeting (seem like multiple actually), but my changes are not there, just the original meeting message. Are my notes gone forever? I am using Outlook 2013 with Exchange.
