I recently updated some gear on a XP pro scv pk2 system, ie newer faster CPU

and a larger primary HD, I ran into issues from the get.

my MB is a GIGAbyte and I seem to remember reading I'm only allowed one IDE

Device (Primary HD) So I installed CPU no problems, saw it right away.

Installed Larger HD and all kinds of Problems, XP stopped seeing my SATA

drives where I had my backups, both external and internal. I wound up having

to wipe and start from scratch, with installing The sata drivers and still XP

would not see my Sata drivers, so I gave up and went to W7 it saw the SATA

drives right away.

What the heck would cause XP to stop seeing the SATA Drives? Drivers were

installed at the proper time

Never having installed SP3?

Note: Support for WinXP (x86) SP2 ends on 13 July 2010. After that date,

computers running WinXP (x86) SP2 "will no longer receive software updates

from Windows Update" (i.e., Automatic Updates will not work and Windows

Update website will not be accessible) until SP3 has been installed.

Extended Support for WinXP SP3 will continue through 08 April 2014.

• What does it mean if my version of Windows is no longer supported?

Thanks for your input, however this doesn't address my issue.
