Purchased My laptop with Windows 8.0. Later I purchased and installed Windows 8.1 Pro with Key
Later I received the free upgrade to windows 10, I don't know if it was Pro or not. I wasn't looking to use the features right away and stupidly I thought this download would solve a problem or two (well, it seem to anyway).
Now, I had to replace my HDD for my dell laptop. Instead of using created discs for reinstalling my system, I used a Thumb Drive which I loaded with Windows 10 home from the Microsoft website. I could not find any other version and at that point I didn't care. I was happy to be able to find anything I could use.
Now, I find I cannot activate Windows 10 Home because I have only the Key for Windows 8.1 Pro and apparently that is only good for Windows 10 Pro upgrade. I cannot find that on this frustrating website.
Can someone please help me figure out how I can activate with the key I have or find the Windows 10 Pro to upgrade to which I assume I should have been able to do originally. I don't think I should have to purchase it, since I had just purchased the 8.1 Pro before I knew 10 was coming out. I had no problems with activation from 8.1 PRO to whatever it was I put on my laptop when I got the free upgrade. I installed the only thing I could at that time, as far as I know.
Feeling stupid and frustrated. Yes, the system is working, but not fully "activated" for full functionality. PLEASE HELP ME!!! lol
