I have a way around this which may be of interest:

* I have 5 icons in the QL, 4 commonly used ones and one which shows a

folder. In this folder, I put all the other shortcuts I don't use as

frequently.

* I click on the first 4 for what I use commonly

* I click on the 5th (I chose the icon of a tree) which shows the folder

view

* In the folder, set the view to "Icons", then also View > Arrange Icons by

> Align to grid

* The folder needs to be a separate folder on your disk that is used only

for this purpose

Works nicely for me...

I use this toolbar a lot since I don't want a lot of

icons on the desktop. I have the toolbar sized so that about

10 icons show in the QL area and about 10 more less frequently

used hidden behind the >> next to the systray. However, at boot

up, they seem to be ordered in no particular sequence.

1. Tried the registry fix at Kelly's Corner (#54 right side). No joy.

2. Tried unlocking toolbar, ordering as desired then locking toolbar. No

joy.

3. Tried TweakUI. Couldn't find anything relevant.

4. Tried opening the toolbar folder, renaming the icon files with prepended

000,001,002, etc. This works only slightly, since every day at boot up

I have to right click the hidden icons, accessed by >>, and select

order by name.

I suppose one solution is to only have the 10 most used and delete the

others

but there must be a way around this.

Alain's idea seemed reasonable. Another thing you can do is enable the

Desktop as a menu item on your Taskbar; then you'll be able to see/access

your entire Desktop contents with single clicks.

-Right click an open area on your Taskbar

-Choose Toolbars

-PUt a tick at Desktop

-You'll note the Desktop menu is added to the Taskbar now. Click the >> and

the whole desktop, sorted as you have it sorted visibly, will pop up and

each item clickable. You can also get directly to your desktop that way when

you might have the needed desktop items hidden under program windows.

Once I got used to it I even turned off the display of the icons on the

desktop since I seldom ever used them. If you're the kind that saves

downloads to the desktop, it may not be wise to turn off its idon display.

IT's a ymmv situation.
