Question regarding the "Outlook for Windows" specifically the windows mail replacement.

If anybody who volunteers here might have any understanding of this, please let me know. I would like to know that if the mail app will completely stop functioning, and also if this basic outlook that will replace it actually downloads mail that it will be taking up hard drive space (more than that of windows mail?I think that I tried to test the outlook mail, and it appeared to show all the mail in the folders, while the windows mail shows a minimum amount of it.
