Product key issue within the same device after a new OS install.

Background Info:I have a HP Compaq nc6400 that was previously running Windows 7 Pro Service Pack One. I haven't used this laptop for a year because it was previously damaged and I've been repairing it myself. Yesterday after managing to resolve the issue within my laptop, I managed to access the ADMIN user which contain the ability to upgrade Windows 7 to Windows 10. Before this ADMIN account wasn't accessible because of a forgotten password, however I managed to find a booklet of old passwords and was able to open this account.
