Hi there!

Vista 32-bit SP2, all current updates, IE8 (resetted completely), Windows

Mail, AV deinstalled

I've problems to display *.mhtml files in IE, and with the same reason

Windows Mail isn't able to display mail content.

(Message "trouble with displaying of mhtml content" in Group Windows Vista /

Windoes Mail.)

If I start IE8 without add-ons by right click I'M ABLE (!) to display the

problematic *.mhtml files.

If I start IE normally (even with all add-ons deactivated) the page cannot

be displayed message appers after timeout.

(It happens only at one user profile at the PC; a virus scan didn't show any

results, the mshtml.dll seems to be ok.)

A newly as *.mht saved web page is displayable. If I copy the *.mht to

*-Copy.mht, this 1:1 copied file isn't displayable. Strange!

Are there invisible add-ons?

What do "starting without add-ons" of IE disable additionally (which could

cause the mhtml display problem)?

Thanks

Tools>Manage Addons

Select the Show option - All add-ons

Ensure all msxml{n}.dll versions are enabled. They all have the same CLSID,

so disabling one will disable all and over-ride the the controls' version

vectoring.

Regards.

Please explain what "AV deinstalled" means?

Uups, sorry: "anti virus" deinstalled (after scanning) (because of avoiding

side effects by such deep interfering tools)

Hi Rob!

Thanks for the hint.

Unfortunately the problems apper if add-ons are *activated*.

Only if I start IE8 with all add-ons off (via right mouse click) the *.mhtml

display is ok.

Even if I deactivate all add-ons (in all Show options) the displaying is

disturbed. (So I supposed I'm not able to really deactivate all add-ons with

doing it by "Manage add-ons" piece by piece [my failed attempt to find the

disturbing add-on].)

[Why is everyone suddenly snipping so much in their replies?]

Problem "solved" by work-around: deletion of Windows user profile and

creation of a new one. :-(
