problems with bitlocker recovery key

[Windows 11]

My HP laptop is asking for a recovery key. I entered the key provided in my microsoft account. I have verified it is the correct one for the drive. It is not working. I attempt to wipe my computer to factory reset through the prompts. It identifies my network but will not accept my password. How do i get a new bitlocker key and or how do i wipe my computer to factory reset?
