Hello,

I am using a Microsoft wireless optical USB wheel mouse. The mouse seems to

work ok but when I look in device manager, there are 2 mice listed. One is

an HID-compliant mouse and the other is shown as a PS/2 Compatible Mouse. I

am using a Dell laptop and wonder if one of these mice is actually referring

to the touch pad sensor on the laptop. I've tried uninstalling both mice and

then rebooting but after reboot, they both show up again. Also, there

doesn't seem to be a way to adjust the number of lines when using the wheel.

Thanks,

If they're there on reboot, I'd leave it alone.

Google search your wireless model number adding software as part of the

search. Maybe it needs to be installed to get you the lines.

Yes, several Touchpad style mice do use the PS/2 connections. Leave

it alone.

The PS/2 mouse is the touchpad, the HID-compliant is the wireless USB.

To adjust the scrolling options, the correct driver needs to be

installed. If the option isn't available in Control Panel> Mouse> Wheel

tab, then download and install the current driver for your wireless

optical mouse model, from the mouse manufacturer.
