Problem with Explorer (windows 11, surface pro 8)

For some reason, I can no longer open files from explorer. When I try to open word or PDF files, I get the following message: "make sure [my name] - PC is running on your PC, then try again". I'm also unable to view or open any of my photos. I first noticed this problem last Friday the 18th. I have been running Norton Utilities and am wondering if it erased a file necessary for Explorer to open files.Can someone help?
