Have a Toshiba Satellite L50-D-B laptop with AMD E1-6010 APU processor and AMD Radeon R2 Graphics running on Windows 10.
Have reset the laptop using the reset utility removing everything prior to it reinstalling windows. I have then updated the whole system with Windows update and have downloaded the latest drivers from AMD. After installing all the updates and rebooting no issues appear in the Device Manager with all the latest drivers installed. The DVD is visible when booting in both normal and safe mode. When I insert a DVD into the drive the drive whirs for a number of seconds but can not read the DVD. I have tested a number of discs.
Am at the end of my tether and any input and help to resolve the issue would be great.

- The two Toshiba programs (TOSHIBA Recovery Media Creator, TOSHIBA Disc Creator) are not installed.
- There is no virtual software on the system to uninstall.
- I have made sure the system is up to date and there are no hardware update drivers to install.
- I have tried to reinstall and update the DVD driver in Device Manager rebooting in each case.
- I have tried removing and reinstalling the IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers. No ATA Channel 0, ATA Channel 1 or Standard Dual Channel PCI IDE Controller were present in hidden devices.
- I have updated the BIOS to latest version.
- Finally I have Edited the Windows Registry as suggested in How to Fix a DVD or CD Drive Not Working or Missing in Windows 10 .
Am at the end of my tether and any input and help to resolve the issue would be great.
