Hi. I've run into this issue on a number of computers now running Windows 10 recently (this past month).
Basically, client calls complaining a printer or scanner isn't working. When looking in Devices and Printers, there are dozens of duplicates appearing (and re-appearing if removed). These are sometimes printers, other computers registering as Media Devices, virtual printers, etc. One client had about a hundred duplicates of a single computer on the network registering as a Media Device.
All but one of any type will be ghosted out, and the un-ghosted one is unable to connect even though it looks connected, so no printing or scanning.
Is this due to a recent update?
What is the correct way to fix this "permanently"?
The only way I've found to keep them from re-appearing is to turn off Network Discovery entirely, but some clients need this functionality.
I've noticed a number of the computers affected are HP's (maybe all?).
Is there a specific update that would fix this (or one that needs to be removed)?
