Printer can't print after Windows Defender/Malicious software removal tool updates in Win 7

Earlier this month Windows updated its Windows Defender and Malicious software removal tool. Since then, my Canon scanner/printer can't find my computer and my computer can't print. I can't uninstall these updates. I uninstalled and reinstalled the printer driver. Nothing works. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
