Power issue?

While I'm working in the browser and listening to music, all my monitors go black and my fans spin up to maximum speed. The system is probably still running because the music is playing uninterrupted, even after 10 minutes there is no change. The only option is to hold down the power button and turn the computer off. Occasionally, even after turning on and running the bios, the screen goes black (without spinning the fans to maximum speed) and I have to repeat the shutdown.
