I have a Dell Inspiron 17 5755 that is maxed. 16 Gb Ram, 1 Tb SSD, AMD processor, and a dual-band Wifi running at 5.0. My internet is rated at 100 Mb/s but my other system will typically D/L at 115+. Most of the time it's coming in at ~118 Mb/s according to Ookla Speedtest on a 10/100/1000 integrated NIC.
The Dell has a typical cheap 10/100 NIC so we were running via WiFi to get a little better response. My wife is a gamer and I decided to upgrade the Dell to give it a bit more kick. Hence the Dual-band Wifi card, SSD and an additional 8Gb of memory.
Problem!!
Back, a few updates ago, I bought and started using an Asix USB 3.0 to Gigabit Ethernet Adapter. It was fantastic. I was getting ~115-119 Mb/s on my 100 Mb/s line to the 3.0 USB on the Dell.
Now, all at once, I can barely pull 75 Gb/s on that same port/Adapter set up. I've checked everything from devices (Replaced the adapter), uninstalled both 3.0 hubs, and drivers, reinstalled and updated drivers. Ran Microsoft USBView.... everything ok there
According to my understanding is that the USB 3.0 port should be able to handle up to around 640 Mb/s. My WiFi gets around 118 Mb/s from the same router.
I've tried different ports on the router, different cables; did a factory reset on the router to no avail.
I have a tower, on the same router, with a 110/100/1000 but only USB 2.0 so I can' test the converter.
This setup worked fine, in the ~113-118 Mb/s range with the Asix AX-88179 to USB 3.0 converter but does not perform as well as the straight Broadband to 10/100 integrated NIC.
HELP!!!!
