Plustek scanner stopped working

Been working fine for a couple of years. Now nothing happens when I start the plustek filmscanner 8100 app. Tried uninstalling, installing in compatibility mode (windows8) and rebooting. Installing in s mode not a possibility. The windows App Store only allows for upgrades.
