Phone Link Does Not Stay Connected

Alright, so maybe I am misunderstanding the actual purpose of phone link, but I had thought that it would let me just view my phone notifications, texts, and such on my computer, without me having to interact with my phone. My phone is a Samsung Galaxy A53, and I am running windows 11. While my phone is unlocked, and on the home screen, I absolutely do get those notifications on my computer. However, when I lock my phone, or it just locks itself after ten minutes, the phone link disconnects, and I no longer get those notifications.
