Persistant Error in my app, cannot resolve, help needed please

An error message in one of my apps has suddenly appeared. It is a finance app and whenever I try to add a new transaction, I get the following message:- Cannot perform operation '<>' on Sysytem.Int64 and System.String'. The software manufacturer has looked at it for me and said:-It must be a problem with your computer system. The software relies on a Microsoft runtime environment called the .net framework. It is possible that this is faulty and could be the cause of the problem.
