For a few months, the file previews of .pdf files in Windows 10 file explorer have been displayed as the parent directory folder tree, instead of the actual document I had saved as .pdf and it has been driving me absolutely mad! I have tried selecting different apps with which to 'always open them' but it made no difference which app I chose :-/ I have tried copying .pdf files to another folder and sometimes that worked but other times it didn't :-/ But today I found a tip about repairing Acrobat Reader in Control Panel>progams and features and I did that - and it worked
