PC won’t wake from sleep mode while locked

Every time I turn on my PC if I don’t unlock it within the first few seconds, the screen goes black and neither my mouse or keyboard can wake it up, is there any setting I have to change for it not to go to sleep instantly or at least allow my mouse or keyboard to wake it up
