Pc takes ages to boot then when it does, it don’t load properly

So got an m.2 as a new drive and after attempting and giving up fitting it due to its awkward position and my fat fingers haha (it’s not in the pc at the moment) it started to become super slow at loading up apps and just being slower than normal. The hard drive doesn’t show in the boot order but does in the Sata section. I can also still boot from it in the boot options. Now today, booted up to desktop and the taskbar doesn’t load properly then, as soon as I press a button the task bar goes blank and icons disappear.
