Hi all,

We have an issue currently plaguing our organisation.

I sign into my Outlook 365 app using credentials from a third-party exchange (non-Microsoft exchange). This works fine and I get my emails down and all folders are updating, but then I get a password prompt asking me for credentials, but neither my O365 credentials that we use to register O365 products, nor my Email credentials linked to the third-party exchange work in this box. I don't know what it is asking for, but when I dismiss it, Outlook tells me at the bottom: "Need Password" and stops updating folders, but when I click on this nothing comes up and it says: "Connected to: Microsoft Exchange" and folders update again and I get new emails again.

This repeats every minute or so constantly. I deleted everything in appdata related to Outlook as well as deleting all credentials from credential manager, repairing Office 365 and removing my profile completely from Mail in Control Panel, then rebooting my PC. After all this (at the same time as part of the same fix), I then clicked on Outlook, which asked me to sign in and updated my folders and downloaded my new emails, then prompted for a password again and I'm back to square one.

This is a major flaw in Outlook and after months of Googling we have never found a resolution. We have tried registry changes suggested to us and been in contact with Office 365 support and our Exchange server support to no avail. Outlook is completely broken and I can't understand how nothing fixes this.

Please if anyone has any suggestions, or have resolved this exact issue before I would love to hear from you, as I am now at my wit's end and see no reason to continue using Outlook until it is patched or fixed, or a resolution that works is proposed. There must be something I can do to stop Outlook prompting for a password it knows it doesn't need (since my emails work perfectly fine briefly until the next password prompt).

One of my colleagues has had this issue for months and is on Windows 10. I never had this issue up until today and I performed my Windows 10 upgrade last night. This issue only occurs on Windows 10.

EDIT: I also started Outlook in safe mode and that still has the password prompt too.
