Outlook keeps asking for password

Running Win 10 on a Dell 5770 Inspiron with MS Office Pro Plus 2016 (16.0.11425.20246). Email via Exchange Server worked well for months, then suddenly Outlook began asking for passwords repeatedly. I tried all of the following:

• Checked settings for email server -trying imap/smtp
• Cleared the credential manager passwords
• repaired office using MS repair tool
• reinstalled office
• reinstalled windows

Is there a registry fix for this? What settings am I overlooking. Any help appreciated.
