Outlook is not syncing

I have used Classic Outlook on my computers for years, but it in the past few months it has not been downloading my emails as routinely as it has in the past. I have 2 new computers with Windows 11 and I have Office 365 on both. It is taking an extensive amount of time to download emails and it only will do so if I stay on the Outlook screen. And even then the process stalls and the send/receive bar appears to get stuck in the middle. The sync process will stop completely If I switch to work in another program or app while it is downloading, such as Word, browser or even File Explorer. W
