Outlook cannot store the password

I have the following problem with my Outlook 2016:

- I start the program, it asks to confirm the certificate - that's not an issue, I know why this happens.

- Then the pop-up for the password comes up. When I input the password an choose to store it, it is not and then the pop-up comes again. And again.

- Then I click cancel and after that the prompt on the bottom of Outlook screen says "Need Password". When I click on that - I'm not asked for the password anymore and I'm connected. Sometimes I get connected after canceling the password pop-up and with "Need Password" still there.

- After 5-30 minutes - the password prompt comes again.

This happens for my own account and the other 2 accounts connected to mine (where I'm authorized).

I did all the steps in the known online solutions - they don't work for me.

Any help would be much appreciated.
