Old LG Flatron Monitor Won't Work With Laptop, But It Used To

How can I tell if an old LG Flatron W2252TQ external monitor is compatible with my old HP Pavilion m7-1015dx Windows 10 (home not pro) laptop? The external monitor used to work with the laptop a few years ago, then we swapped it with a different external monitor; now we want to use it again and it will not work. It is detected or recognized, but will not work if "extended." If extended, we get the "Analog out of range" error. But we cannot manipulate settings to detect it to change the resolution. It will ONLY work on "duplicate" or "Screen 2" but not with extended. Our Windows is up-to-date.W
