Nvidia graphic drivers installing, but not detected and the same driver is avaliable for install afterwards

Got a new pc. Win 11 ios, nvidia 4070 gpu and 12th generation intel cpu.I have fixed an issue with windows not being able to download or install updates, but the graphics drivers are still a mystery to me.The nvidia geforce app has a new driver ready for me to install. I click install and it looks like it finishes the install without a problem. But, then I see that the same driver is available for install in the app and there are no drivers detected on the pc. How do I fix this? It gives no error codes.
