Nothing happens when i try to install a web browser in Windows Vista

I know Windows Vista is 17 years old and ended support about 6 years ago but i like to experiment with old technology. I have an old Compaq 6710b running Windows Vista Ultimate SP2. It is a near-fresh install of Vista with only the graphics and network drivers. (sound didn't need a driver).When i click on a web browser installer, it does absolutely nothing at all. No popup, no error and no process in task manager. i even tried running it as an administrator but still nothing. I tried the latest version of firefox that was supported on windows vista and the latest version of opera for vista as
