Not getting the option to change forgotten windows password.

I am able to log into my laptop using either a pin or fingerprint. I can also log into my microsoft account using a password. The problem is that I have forgotten my windows password and do not get an opportunity for "forgot password" when logging in or in the account password change screen. I don't use windows password but I have a program that is asking for it and I can't come up with it or set a new one.
