not able to play some audio files (songs) that I downloaded from the internet.

I downloaded some songs from a specific internet server and when I tried to play it on 2 of my sony audio systems it said the audio file was corrupted. later I played some older songs (ones I had downloaded earlier) and it ran completely fine so I set out to check the differences between the old and new files it seemed that the old files had the LENGTH and AUDIO BIT RATE mentioned in their properties but the new ones didn't.., may I know what caused this issue and why I wasn't able to play the files without length and audio bit rate mentioned in their properties.
