I may be providing the info in the wrong way so I am reposting.
Fact - on 22 June 2016 my computer an:
Acer Aspire AZ3-605-UR23 All-in-One Touchscreen Desktop PC comes with these specs: 3rd Generation Intel Core i5-3337U Processor 1.8GHz with Turbo Boost Technology up to 2.7GHz, Windows 8, Intel HM77 Express Chipset, 23" Full HD Widescreen Edge-to-Edge LED Back-lit Touch Screen Display, 10-Point Multi-Touch Intuitive Control, 8192MB DDR3 Memory, Intel HD Graphics, 1TB 7200 RPM SATA3 Hard Drive, 8X DVD SuperMulti Double-Layer Drive, Digital Media Card Reader - Secure Digital Card, Up to 20 Degree Adjustable Built-in HD Webcam and microphone, 10/100/1000 Gigabit Ethernet, 802.11a/b/g/n Wireless, Bluetooth 4.0, Optimized Dolby Home Theater v4 audio enhancement, Two Harman Kardon speakers, 2 - USB 3.0 Ports, 2 - USB 2.0 Ports, 1 - HDMI Port, Wireless Keyboard and Mouse, 19.8 lbs. with a screen resolution [max] of 1920 x 1080 pixels I had upgraded to Windows 8.1 by March 2014. All updates to the OS were/are current and successfully installed.
had an unrequested copy of Windows 10 successfully downloaded and installed on my computer overnight. I was planning on downloading a copy within a couple weeks of 22 June and did not have time when it was downloaded to mess with it so I rolled it back to 8.1. Since then I have added all updates. As recently as 30 minutes ago I downloaded and installed Update for Windows 8.1 for x64-based Systems (KB3035583)
Yesterday morning I was ready to download windows 10 and downloaded the little program that checks compatibility. The computer passes the tests except the display is deemed not compatible. I looked at some of the older threads on the forum and it seems there was a problem with the compatibility tool last year but the update in question was sucessfully installed in my update list..
Within the listing of the updates this update referring to the Windows 10 installation is: Upgrade to Windows 10 Home, version 1511, 10586
Installation date: 6/22/2016 6:51 AM Installation status: Failed Error details: Code 80240054 Update type: Optional
Install the next version of Windows. More information: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=507415
Help and Support: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=507417
I am assuming this has something to do with the rollback I did to 8.1. Just looked at it and it leads me to the Windows 10 FAQ page.
I do not know what to do--I cannot imagine that my computer's display is incompatible given it exceeds the standards. I know it has been discontinued but models come and go and it is still a powerful computer and does all that I need it to do.
Hate to sound paranoid but did Microsoft decide that since all of us who had the download forced upon us and we rejected it by rolling back just were not going to have another chance???
Any help is appreciated.
thanks
