Night Light (blue light filter) not working (Windows 10)

After the automatic update of Win 10 last night the extreme redness of the screen is on, and there is no way to make the screen less red. When I go to settings and to night light, the slider is grayed out and it cannot be moved. Also all buttons concerning night light are deactivated. BUT when I move backwards and come to screen brightness, it is just as it used to be; slider is working in the usual way. Also, the entire settings is behaving in a strange manner; it just closes itself without me doing it. The icon disappears from the taskbar at the same time, just like when a non-pinned app is
