New to me PC is stuck in BIOS

I got a new PC from a friend (first time owning one), I was told it needed a windows key, so I got one, but the PC only shows the BIOS screen, so I do not know how to exit this screen or how to install windows/input the key. I’ve tried searching for the answers via google, but I have not found anything useful or similar.
