Hi, everybody,
A week and a half ago I replaced most parts of my PC. At first Windows ran fairly stable, but I had some crashes and crashed some heavier games after a while. To exclude that the problems were caused by the Windows installation taken from the old system, I then did a fresh installation.
From that moment on I've only had problems and Windows keeps crashing every now and then. Not only Windows itself, but also Firefox tabs crash almost standard and the games I wanted to fix with the new installation I can't play for 5min in a row before they crash to Windows (without an error message).
Since a lot of people have problems with the 5700XT I initially thought it was because of the video card and I restored my old one (RX 470). I also tried other RAM sticks, replaced the PSU and updated the BIOS, flashed a version back and updated it again. It all didn't matter, the crashes are still there. Memtest86 and chkdsk both come back without error messages, and the system file checkers don't find corrupted files either.
Now I'm curious if there are other things I can try to find out about the problem. My previous processor was an i5-6400 so motherboard and cpu can't be swapped. I hope you can help me out, because apart from returning CPU and/or motherboard, I don't know what else I can do. Thank you in advance for thinking with me.
My system:
AMD Ryzen 5 3600
MSI Tomahawk MAX
Crucial Ballistix 16GB 3200 / Kingston HyperX Predator 16GB 3200
Gigabyte Radeon RX 5700 XT Gaming OC 8G / Gigabyte Radeon RX 470 G1 Gaming 4G
Corsair RM650x
Crucial MX300 2.5" 275GB SSD
Seagate ST1000DX001, 1TB HDD
Except for the XMP profile on off and ram timings (based on RAM calculator) I did not change anything in the BIOS. Now running on stock settings.
