network keeps changing

A few days ago I had to put a different network adapter on my laptop because the old one didn't work. It said it was something like a hardware issue. I don't remember the exact wording. I chose one of the two that troubleshooting offered. However, almost every time i go back online the globe is in the taskbar instead of the internet access icon and the airplane mode has somehow gotten switched on. I can readjust and proceed but this shouldn't be happening. I went on Dell Support Assist. All my drivers etc are up to date. I scanned all the systems with what Dell offers. Can y ou help me so
