I have a DELL Inspiron 1318 Notebook running Win 7 Home Premium 64 bit. For the past 11 months it has been unable to download updates. When I tried to reinstall Win 7 today a message stating that ".NET Framework v 4.5 needs repair" appeared. This may have been the defect that was blocking updates. Two questions:
1) What is .NET Framework and why would it be important for getting updates?
2) Is there a way to repair .NET Framework v 4.5 without reinstallation of Win 7?
