My windows screen lock doesn’t acknowledge my password after changing it for the first time. Not it doesn’t accept the new password nor the old. Stuck

How do I deactivate or reset lock screen? I changed my password today and was sure of it. Now in the eve when I tried to access it, it doesn’t acknowledge my password after changing. Pls help as I have an urgent assignment in there that needs to be submitted.
