My wifi stutters, making discord calls and videogames highly inconsistent. How can I fix this?

I have had issues with my network connection for a while now. On discord calls, my ping will shoot up every few minutes and in games I will rubber band and have terrible packet loss. I use a usb WIFI adapter that has worked well until recently. I have followed this thread and nothing has fixed my issue.
