Greeting,
I am having issues downloading 2 updates from microsoft windows. I need these updates in order to get the Windows 10 Upgrade.
The 2 updates I need are:
Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB3075851)
and
Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer 11 for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB3078071)
In research I found that I can not get these updates because of a disk volume error.
For the record my computer has no issues, I runs well sometimes it moves slow but other than that it is very functional, I have no issues. Start up is clean etc
When I do chkdsk I get a message saying that I basically need to schedule the scan because the disk is in use. Now I only have one drive my C: drive
I restart the computer and nothing happens....nothing.
I have seen a few things like changing the bootexecute to default, autocheckautochk *, when I checked the registry my bootexecute value is set to
"autocheck autochk /r \??\C:
autocheck autochk *"
I got scared because in the comments people said following the above made their computer not start up.
I am also very cautious about using command prompt because I have experienced trying to use command prompt and completely destroying the computer.
Please I really want Windows 10 but I also need the volume on my computer fixed, I don't know what that issue usually does to the computer because my computer has no symptoms.
I also can not restore my computer to an earlier date a message pops up saying "windows has detected file system corruption on local disk (C. you must check the disk for errors before it can be restored" So basically I know the issue is effecting unnoticeable areas.
So this is truly an issue with my disk the (C drive but I can not even scan it because how will it not be in use. Aswell will that allow me to update and upgrade!?
