My Realtek Speaker and Sometimes Microphone randomly stop functioning

I can temporarily fix the problem by disabling the speaker in settings, re-booting and re-enabling the speaker. The fix will last for a few hours up to a day or so and then stops working again. I've been tracking this for awhile and there is no one application that seems to set it off (or at least, no applications that I would manually open and close). It just seems to quit working randomly and without warning. When its not working and I open the speaker properties and try to test the sample rate and bit depth, I receive the message: "The device is being used by another application. Please clo
