My power button only works to shut down my laptop.

I have a surface go Microsoft laptop that I bought in 2022, and I just realized that the power button doesn't work for my fingerprint or to turn off the laptop, only to shut it down. I'm wondering how this can be solved. I've tried resetting my fingerprint but the power button just won't work.
