My new updated version of paint in not working correctly in windows 11

My paint app changed overnight, so I uninstalled it and downloaded the latest version 11,2306.30.0, and now I have the same version that does not work correctly. The new "Layers" button is missing first of all. I mainly use it to import and combine two images side by side, or create a text box, and add a citation. I don't do anything fancy, But none of that works anymore. As soon I import a second image it stays the same size (about the size of a thumbnail), and as soon as I click on any option it disappears. Can someone please help?
